"William Vorbeck, 66, died this morning at the Jewell Davis farm, one mile east of Chillicothe. Although he had been in failing health for the last few months, death was sudden. A carpenter, Mr. Vorbeck had been building a chicken house on the Davis farm he was stricken.

He was born Dec. 4, 1890, in Livingston County, son of William and Lillie Slover Vorbeck. He attended the Oak Grove school and lived in the Oak Grove neighborhood until 1950, at which time he and Mrs. Vorbeck moved to their present address, 215-1/2 Tenth street. He married Dora Pearl Israel on March 12, 1921, at Chillicothe.

He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the Medical Corps. He entered the service on July 25, 1918, and was discharged at Camp Funston, Kan., on Jan. 24, 1919.

He leaves his wife; three sons, Charles and Tom Vorbeck of Kansas City and Jerry Vorbeck of Chillicothe; a brother, Scott Vorbeck of Chillicothe; three sisters, Minnie Stone of Kansas City, Nellie White of Ely, Nev., and Pearl Bucher of Chillicothe; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Howard Vorbeck; a brother and two sisters." The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, May 3, 1957
