Mr. Jimmy Meyer, age 46, died Wednesday night in the Memorial Health University Medical Center of Savannah, GA following an extended illness. He was a native of Winder, GA had formerly lived in Athens, and had made his home in Waresboro for the past 5 years.
He was the son of the late James Walter Meyer and Laura Elizabeth Bowen Meyer. He was a long distance truck driver and the former owner-operator of City Wide Wrecker Service in Athens from 2001 until 2002. He was a member of the Waresboro Church of God. His hobbies include repairing old bicycles and giving them away to children and buying and selling old Chevrolet "Muscle Cars".
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Jenny Meyer of Waresboro; three daughters, Brittany Meyer, Tiffany Meyer, and Chasity Meyer all of Waresboro; two sons, Jeremy Meyer of San Diego, CA and Cody Meyer of Waresboro; three sisters, Cindy Chapman of Bluffton, SC, Janie Maddox of Rome, and Jamese Meyer of Athens; a brother, Lynn Rogers of Rome, his father-in-law, Pete Brooks of Waresboro, a sister-in-law, Angie Dorsey (husband Donald) of Commerce and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
