MERL E. COE, 70, of Pryor, Okla., formerly of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at John C. Montgomery V.A. Hospital. Born Oct. 3, 1938, in Fort Wayne, to Oscar and Josephine Coe, he was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at Allen County Motors for over 15 years. He is survived by companion, Elsie Gifford; daughter, Suzanne Coe (and her fiancé, JR); grandchildren, David and Jamie; great- grandchildren, Bri and Jalynn; brothers, Oscar, Robert and Donald Coe; and sisters, Janice Ludwig and Joann Derrow. He was preceded in death by sons, John David and Dwight Edward; and sisters, Helen Prindle and Marjorie Coe. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells Street, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials to the family.
