Funeral services for Darlene Rosin were held at 2:00 pm Friday, December 19, 2008, at Christ Lutheran Church, Elbow Lake, with the Rev. Donald Wagner officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Elbow Lake. Visitation was held Thursday from 4:30-7:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church; visitation resumed one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Darlene Beulah Rosin was born on November 13, 1931, in Nobles County, Minnesota, to Eppo and Freada (Buss) Kruize. She attended country school through eighth grade. On November 18, 1950, she married Orvin Rosin, and Barrett, Minnesota, became home for them and their children.
In addition to being an incredible mom, Darlene had countless talents and hobbies. Whether an old piece of furniture needed restoration, an engaged couple needed a wedding cake, a rural church yard needed mowing, or an auction sale needed a clerk or lunch wagon, Darlene was there to make it happen. One of her proudest accomplishments, though, was her 35-year career of accident-free bus driving for the Barrett/West Central Area schools. She especially enjoyed gardening, and her beautiful flowers were proof of her "green thumb." She also had a love for feeding and watching birds, baking, crocheting doilies, and playing Scrabble or Yahtzee with her grandchildren.
Darlene's caring nature and quick wit will be deeply missed by her children Lee (Monica) of Minneapolis, Jeff (Lois) of Fergus Falls, Denny (Brenda) of Buffalo, Mark (Liv) of Shoreview, and Brenda (Jay) of Brainerd; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Alec; Jenni (Keith) and Hayden, Lindsay, Emily and Boston; Jake, Kari; Seth, Aeli, Ben; Drew, Ethan; her brother Donald (Marlys) Kruize, sisters Gladys Woltjer, Kathy (Eddie) Beckman, Dianne (Harvey) Erickson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She's now at peace and reunited with her husband, Orvin (January 12, 2004), two small sons David and Gerald, her sister Alvina, and her parents.
Arrangements are with the Erickson-Smith Funeral Home in Elbow Lake.
