Mariah (Polly) Lee was born on Aug 16, 1801 in either Pennsylvania or Ohio. She died Oct 23, 1846 at the age of 45, in Fairview, Switzerland County, Indiana. Census data for her son David Lee Chambers in 1880 shows her birthplace as Pennsylvania; the 1900 census for him shows her birthplace as Ohio.

She married Minor Chambers on or after Jul 12, 1818 in Switzerland County, Indiana. He was born circa 1797 in Pennsylvania, Germany, or Canada, and died in early 1853 in Keokuk County, Iowa about the age 56. His mother's name was Sarah.

The following appears in the records of Switzerland County, Indiana: "July the 11th 1818. Granted Marriage License to Minor Chambers & Mariah Lee Certificate of D. Lee the father of said Mariah."

She was buried in the Lee (Methodist) Cemetery in Cotton Township, Switzerland County, Indiana. The cemetery, located on the west side of the east half of the southeast quarter of Section 3, Town 3, Range 3, and known as Lee's Burial Ground, was deeded to the Trustees of the Fairview Methodist Episcopal Church by David and Jane Lee on April 20, 1865. It is approximately one mile southwest of State Route 250, on Lee Road.

Her tombstone reads: "In Memory of Mary Chambers who died October the 23rd 1846 Aged 45 Years 2 m And 7 days."
