U.S. Naval Academy class of 1937. CO USS Waldron(DD-699) 1954-1955.

Following USNA graduation in 1937 served in battleship Colorado and four years in cruiser Phoenix, in which he was present at Pearl Harbor on Dec 7 1941. He then served in the cruiser Boston and afterward taught four years at the Naval Academy. This was followed by sea tours as CO of USS Hector, at Atlantic Fleet Training Command Norfolk and in command of USS Waldron (DD-699) during 1954 qnd 1955. He the served on the staff of Commander Tenth Naval District in Purto Rico, commanded the attack transport Renville, and was operations officer of the San Francisco Naval Shipyard. After a tour of Pentagon duty he retired and earned an advanced degree at the University of Virginia. He taught mathematics in Fairfax and Prince William County, VA, high schools High schools until he retired to Leisure World of Silver Spring, MD where he died of cancer after a short illness. He was survived by his wife Gladys, daughter Joyce Wilsie Gross, son Robert and three grandsons.
