Ernest Cardinal, 86, died Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN.
Ernest Joseph Cardinal was born April 25, 1918 in Red Lake Falls, MN to Arthur and Alice (Marleau) Cardinal. He was the fourth of fourteen children.
On April 15, 1941, Ernest was united in marriage to Anna Marie Williams. After their marriage he farmed and also worked out at various jobs. He worked at the Red Lake Falls Tow Mill, Red Lake Falls Rendering Plant and also went to Washington to build cement grain silos. He also worked in Milwaukee for a Foundry Company, a Taconite plant on the Iron Range, drove milk truck for Red Lake Falls Creamery. He worked for a sod company, drove gravel truck, worked for a Texas businessman making fences and taking care of his Burma Cattle, worked for Brooks Auto and Brooks Elevator.
In 1972, the couple moved into Brooks and he helped farm with his son, hauling grain and working in the fields. He enjoyed drives in the country to see how the crops were growing and enjoyed the fall colors.
Survived by wife of 63 years, Anna, Brooks, MN; five children, Marie (John) Chopyk and Carol A. Cardinal, all Edina, MN, Donna (Orvis) Mossestad, Plummer, MN, Sharon (Bryon) Rosten, Plummer, MN and Robert (Anita) Cardinal, Thief River Falls, MN; seven grandchildren, Debra (Stacy) Buggle, Ft. Collins, CO, Dale Mossestad and Brad Mossestad, both Shakopee, MN, Aaron Rosten, Grand Forks, ND, Catherine (Jermiah) Johnson, Oklee, MN, Tracy Rosten, Grand Forks, ND and Andrew J. Cardinal, Thief River Falls, MN; a great grandchild, Sadie Ann Buggle, Ft. Collins, CO; two brothers, Norman Cardinal, Crookston, MN and Elmer Cardinal, Red Lake Falls, MN; five sisters, Alice Delage, Grand Forks, ND, Lou Theroux, Vancouver, WA, Eleanor Derioun, Red Lake Falls, MN, Noella Melby, Crookston, MN and Ethel Herrenbreck, Albany, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
