Obituary

Mrs. Lockey E. Woolsew, Brookman, Worthen, was born in Murphysboro, Ill., Aug. 15, 1846. She was converted and joined the Methodist Church when she was a girl.

She married at the age of 18, to this union three children were born, Jr. W. Brookman, Laura, and Cornelius. Laura preceded her mother in death. J. C. Brooman was accidently killed in Muphysyboro Ill. She moved with her family to Minnesota where she married R. J. Worthen and to this union were born 10 children, 6 girls and 4 boys, of whom Emma, Julia, Nettie preceded their mother in death. Mrs. Hattie Burleson, Mrs. Rose Overton and Allen, Clarence, Isom, Charlie, are still living and they with J. W. Brookman, Cornelius Brookman were the pall bearers for their mother. Their mother carried and cared for them; they carried her across the street to the church at the Cemetery; they laid her to rest to awake in the great Resurection morn.

She moved with the family in an early day to Texas and came to Oklahoma in 1888, landing at Mangum and then to Vinson where she became a charter member in the Methodist Church. It was from this Church that her remains were laid away and relatives and friends viewed for the last time one who had been true in life. The funeral was held at the Methodist Church at Vinson by Rev. J. S. Sessums, assisted by Rev. J. O. Peterson, of Mangum.

The family wishes to thank the many friends for all kindnesses and the nice floral offerings.
