SSGT US ARMY AIR FORCES, WORLD WAR II

George B. Robb, 85, Christian, loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and war hero went home to be with the Lord on December 29, 2008. George leaves behind a wife of 21 years, Muriel; sons George, John, step-son Jim Thomas, Steve, and Joe; sisters Elizabeth Evans, Joanne Posa and Patricia Broeker; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. George's brothers Howard and Jack preceded him in death. George was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1945, receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Clusters. George flew a total of 31 missions in a B-24, 28 missions in the 492nd bomb group and 3 missions in the 467th bomb group. After the war, George retired as a conductor on the San Francisco (Frisco) railroad. George was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and a Mason. George will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be on Friday, January 2 at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral at 2:00 at Memphis Funeral Home (5599 Poplar Avenue).
