Eupora – Charles Pumphrey of Eupora passed away Dec. 21, 1996 at his residence in Eupora. He was 67.

The former owner and operator of Napa Auto Parts Store in Eupora, a position he held for 24 years, Pumphrey was a native of Chickasaw County, born here on Jan. 13, 1929. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Eupora and a veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he served in the Army. Pumphrey was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #423.

Funeral services were held on Dec. 23 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with Rev. W S Stewart and Rev. Cecil Pumphrey officiating. Burial followed at Arbor Grove Cemetery in Chickasaw County.

Survivors include his wife, Nella Mitchell Pumphrey of Eupora; two sons, Mike Pumphrey of Madison and Dale Pumphrey of Columbus; one sister, Margaret Griffin of Houston; three brothers, Rex Pumphrey of West Point, Rev. Cecil Pumphrey of Tupelo, and J E Pumphrey of Houston; one grandson, Joe Pumphrey.
