Cletus LeRoy Bucknell, 82, of Bassett, died at home Sunday, Dec. 28.

He was born Dec. 7, 1926, in rural Floyd County, son of Arthur and Annie Meek Bucknell. On May 7, 1949, he married Gloria M. Havig in Austin, Minn. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Bucknell was a U.S. Navy veteran and had farmed in rural Floyd and Chickasaw counties before going to work for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1978.

Survived by: three sons, Dave (Judy) of Ionia, Daniel (Sandra) of Sumner and Dennis of Bassett; three daughters, Lou Brennan of Charles City, Kathleen Bucknell of Elma and Sueanne (Michael) Testroet of Cedar Falls; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Doris Aird of Charles City, Lois Waid of Floyd and Irma Kay of Manchester.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Loren; and two sisters, Iola Cummings and Elma Belknap.

Services: 2 p.m. today at Messiah Lutheran Church, with Sunnyside Memory Gardens, both in Charles City. Public visitation for an hour before services today at the church. Ionia Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
