Helen, 90, 9 Haarbye St., New Bremen, died at 11:56 p.m., at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.

She was a daughter of John and Catherine (Powell) Menchhofer. On Oct 18, 1942, she married Harold L. Suchland, who survives in New Bremen.

Also survivng are four sons, Harold E. (Barbara), Jim (Shirley), Michael (Janet), New Bremen, and Tom (Carol), North Pole, Alaska; a brother, Martin (Marge), St. Marys; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren with two on the way.

Deceased are two brothers, Cletus and Herbert; and two sisters, Beatrice Nolte and Kathryn Knapp.

She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, the Dorcas Society, and Women of E.L.C., all of the church and she also taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was a member of the American Legion Post 241 Auxiliary in New Bremen, was a Cub Scout Den Mother and was a past president of the New Bremen Band Boosters. She worked at the former Goodyear – St. Marys and along with her husband owned and operated the former Suchland's Flowers and Greenhouse in New Bremen. She enjoyed camping, fishing, crocheting and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys with Rev. William Maki officiating.
