HOMER L. FIKE Homer Leland Fike, 99, Eglon, W.Va., died Friday, May 12, 2000, at the Dennett Road Manor Nursing Home, Oakland. Born April 17, 1901, in Eglon, he was a son of the late Silas Roy and Matilda Delilah (Slaubaugh) Fike. He was preceded in death by two wives, Nellie Daye (King) Fike, and Orpha (Kirk) Martin Fike. He was also preceded in death by one son, two daughters, two sisters, one brother, and two grand-children. He was a farmer, carpenter, miner, and woodworker. Survivors include one son, Everett Forrest Fike, Aurora, Colo.; four daughters, Viola Gordon, Ocala, Fla., Creola Jones, Boonesboro, Eloise Frances Harsh, Terra Alta, W.Va., and Josephine Elaine Ashby, Oakland; one sister, Lela Judy, Greenwood, Del.; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Aurora United Methodist Memorial Building. A service was conducted at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren on Monday, May 15, with the Rev. John Crow and the Rev. J. Rogers Fike officiating. Interment was in the Eglon Cemetery. The family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to the Union Ambulance Service or the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department. The Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis, W.Va., was in charge of arrangements.
