Clinton MO - Jacob Y. Parks, son of William and Susan A. Parks, was born in Henry County, Mo., March 10, 1847, being 74 years, ten months and 13 days old. His father died when he was only a small boy, thus leaving him to a mother's loving care. He was married to Emily Garland, Oct. 12, 1871. He was a member of the Universalist church at Parks Chapel and was an honest, upright man in all his dealings, always just and ever ready to help the needy when it was in his power to do so. He had been in failing health for almost five years and bedfast since last March, but was always cheerful and never complaining, was satisfied with everything that was done for him; nothing gave him more pleasure than to have his children and grandchildren about him. He died January 23, 1922. He leaves his wife and seven children: Mrs. Chas. D. Albin, Clinton; Mrs. W. F. Smith, of Coal; Robert, near Roseland; Mrs. J. M. Joyce, near Coal; Herbert M., on the home place, and Cora and Rolla, both of Coal. Funeral services were conducted at his home Jan. 25, 1922, after which the remains were taken to Parks Chapel for interment. The pall bearers were five grandsons: Ural and Loyd Parks, Huron Smith, Harvey and Garland Albin and his granddaughter's husband, Clyde Tope.
