Born during the depression, Arlene and her husband of more than 39 years, Irvin Jr., worked hard and built solid, middle-class lives for themselves and their two sons, Irvin the 3rd and Neal.

Before Arlene was a mother, she was one of the better players on the King William High School's women's basketball team and was known to be a gifted. all around athlete. Continuing their young, adult married lives, without having children, Arlene and Irvin owned and rode horses and were able to enjoy some of the best years of one's lives, without the encumbrances of parenthood.

After enduring a rather long and suffering bout with cancer, Arlene succumbed to death on July 6th, 1992, just prior to her 60th birthday.
