Born in 1854 in Wurtemburg, Germany

Enlisted in the 7th U.S. Cavalry 1 October 1875. He was a private in Company A. under Myles Moylan at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. His company did cross the river with Reno, who were fought back by the indians. Deihle did get back across the river and up on what is now known as Reno Hill. He was wounded, but it is not known whether it was while across the river or after he returned to the hilltop.
