On June 13, 2002, Susan Louise Clemedtson passed away after a long illness due to progressive supranuclear palsy.

Susan was born December 13, 1920, in Fargo, ND, to the late George Madison Comstock and Frances (Frazier) Comstock. She grew up in Moorhead, MN, but attended the Buckingham School in Cambridge, MA, during her last two years of high school.

In 1942 she graduated with a BA in history from Smith College, Northampton, MA. Between 1942 and 1945 she proudly served her country as a lieutenant in the US Navy, stationed in Washington, DC. She received an MA in economics from the University of MN in 1948.

While at the university Susan met Henning Clemedtson from Karlshamn, Sweden. They were married in Susan's grandparents' home on Oct. 24, 1948. Susan and Henning farmed both in the beautiful countryside near Karlshamn and also for many years on the fertile plains of the Red River Valley, whose wide open spaces she loved. Wherever their home was made, it was always full of friends and animals, lovely parties and good conversation.

Susan had a great interest in the humanities and liberal arts, especially classical music. Even as her health deteriorated, she never lost her love of learning.
