Decatur Howard, 58, formerly Justice of the Peace for Putnam county, died July 5 in New Mexico where he had gone for his health. He had been ill for many months.
Born and reared in Putnam, Mr Howard was known as a man of good character. He served as Magistrate of the 2nd district for 6 years. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Howard cemetery with burial there.
He is survived by 5 sons: Frank, Henry, Garner, Douglas and James; 4 daughters, Mrs Mary Howell, Mrs Myrtle Huddleston, Beulah and Jewel Howard.
