DEATH OF MRS. JUSTUS
FOLLOWS LONG ILLNESS
LEAVES TEN CHILDREN

Mrs. Elizabeth Ophelia Justus of 320 South Meldrum street, died on Thursday evening at the age of 66 years. Mrs. Justus had been failing for about three years, having suffered a stroke of paralysis some time ago and also having been a sufferer from cancer.

Mrs. Justus was the widow of Roton Franklin Justus, who died here in 1905, shortly after coming here from San Luis Valley. She was born October 18, 1854, at Odessa, Missouri, and lived in that state during her earlier married life, her four eldest sons having been born in Missouri. The family afterwards moved to Kansas and then to Colorado, settling at Center, fourteen miles north of Monte Vista. They moved to Fort Collins sixteen years ago.

Mrs. Justus left surviving the following ten children:
Walter H. Justus of Denver, T. F. Justus of Fort Collins, Guy Justus of Bristow, Oklahoma, W. N. Justus of Canada, John Justus of Fort Collins, Mrs. Willa Goade of Long Beach, California, Miss Una Justus of New York City, Ray Justus of Salinas, California and Mrs. Sallie Sankey of Fort Collins. All of the children were at her bedside when she died, with the exception of Wyn N. Justus of Canada and Ray Justus of Salinas.

Mrs. Justus had been an active member of the Baptist church all her life and she was also a member of the Women of Woodcraft, which organization will take part in her funeral services.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at three o'clock from the Baptist church, the Rev. L. B. Crosby officiating. The body of Mrs. Justus will be laid beside that of her husband in Grand View cemetery.

On July 1, 2001, Neighbors of Woodcraft (NOW) , a fraternal benefit society based in Oregon, City, Ore., merged with Woodmen of the World. The merger of Neighbors and Woodmen of the World was more than just a joining of two fraternal benefit organizations; it was a reunion of two organizations that shared a common past.

Founded in 1897, NOW can trace its beginnings to Joseph Cullen Root, who founded Woodmen and the Supreme Forest Woodmen Circle.

Originally named Women of Woodcraft, NOW grew out of the Woodmen Circle, serving as a women's auxiliary to Woodmen's Pacific Jurisdiction, which operated in the states of Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and California. Circle President May Falkenburg and her successors, Mary J. Huse and Emma B. Manchester, worked hard to establish the Circle in the states of the Pacific Jurisdiction.
