DEATH OF JAMES F. MANN, IPSWICH'S OLDEST RESIDENT
ISPWICH, Aug 23--James F. Mann, Ipswich's oldest resident, died Thursday night. Mr. Mann had been in failing health the past year. He was more than 90 years old, having been born in Ipswich, Jan 14, 1829, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jabez Mann, who came here from England.
He was a cabinetmaker, but owing to an accident while engaged in his work a number of years ago, he lost the sight of one eye. Later the sight on the other eye became impaired and he was practically sightless. He turned his attention to flowers. During a number of years he conducted a greenhouse at his home on Washington St., and it was one of the showplaces of the town, with its handsome flowers and shrubbery.
Mr. Mann leaves no near relatives in Ipswich, but several nieces and nephews reside out of town. The funeral took place this afternoon, Rev. T. Frank Waters officiating.
