KINCAID, KS - Owen F. Hunsperger, 78, passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott, Kansas.

He was born October 22, 1930 at Osawatomie, Kansas, the son of Orville and Ethel (Hastings) Hunsperger.

He grew up in the Osawatomie area attending school there until attending high school in Lane, Kansas.

Following school he served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1964.

He moved to Kincaid, Kansas in the early 1970's. He was a farmer and later worked for area farmers and at a dairy farm.

Owen was a fan of horse pulling and regularly attended several in the area.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Vicki; and a grandson Quincy Olds.

He is survived by three sons, Tom, Darrell, and Robert Hunsperger; three daughters, Phyllis Hooker of Borger, TX, Melody Cooper of Redfield, KS, and Carla Olds of Kincaid, KS; three brothers, Eugene Hunsperger and James Hunsperger and wife, Ruby, all of Osawatomie, KS, and Robert Hunsperger and wife, Virginia, of Garnett, KS; one sister, Orvella Badders and husband, Gerald, of, Osawatomie, KS; several grandchildren, including, Alexis Olds, Christopher Olds, and Andrew Hooker.

Funeral services will be December 30, 2008 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Kincaid Nutrition Site.
