Pauline Ellen Barnes, 92, a resident of Wishing Well Manor, died early Saturday morning in the health facility. She was born Jan. 13, 1916, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Ellen "White" Kuhn. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Gail Barnes, who died in 1996. Polly has been a life-long member of Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church in Fairmont. Polly was a homemaker all her life and kept a beautiful home. She unofficially served as the neighborhood "medical advisor" to her friends. She was a very active person, loving to dance, swim and play bridge. She is survived by her only daughter, Dr. Carolyn E. Barnes of Lake Ariel, Pa.; several nieces and nephews, David Skoglund of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Mindy and Vince Delgobbo of Durham, N.C., Nancy and Jim Burnett of Grayslake, Ill., and Diane and Jim Ray of The Villages, Fla. Never to be forgotten for the kindness and loving devotion to Polly during her twilight years are Loraine and Fred Stalnaker and Linda R. Bell all of Fairmont. The family will greet friends for a funeral committal service on Tuesday morning, in Woodlawn Cemetery at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. John Riley. Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family requests that any memorial donations be made to Fleming Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1493 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV, 26554.
