Edward P. Kimball was the son of Hon. Charles Kimball. In 1861, he was admitted to the bar. He practiced his profession in Ipswich for a few years, and afterwards in Gloucester, and then associated himself with his father in business at Salem, and continued it after his father's decease.

Mr. Kimball was married on Nov. 9, 1867 to Sarah M. Kimball, daughter of Rev. Reuben Kimball, of North Conway, N. H.
Their children, all born in Ipswich:
1. Walter E, 1868
2. Charles R, 14 Nov 1869
3. Elizabeth Mary, 25 Apr 1873, wed Herbert Sumner Clay, 11 Jun 1910.
4. Marian S., 25 Jan 1875.
Mrs. Kimball is a lady of intelligence, of a bright, cheerful and sunny disposition, interested in every good work, and a leader in the affairs of church and society which come within the sphere of woman's activities.

In October, 1886, Edward assumed the duties of postmaster of Ipswich under appointment from President Cleveland. Mr. Kimball has held various public offices, having served upon the school committee of Ipswich for 6 years, and as selectman of the town for 2 years. He has always taken a great interest in music, is a fine bass singer, has given instruction in vocal music, and was leader of the South Church choir for 18 years.
