Daughter of William Robert Beeman and Martha “Mattie” Exline Howard. Beulah and her eight siblings were orphaned in 1918. Her four older siblings accepted the responsibility of raising the five younger children which included the baby, Robert Exline, born just two hours before his mother died of complications from the Spanish flu. Her father died ten days later with the Spanish flu. When her older sister, Bessie, married Charles McElroy (Bill) Dossey in 1919, Beulah and sister Lucille Jane were taken and raised by Bessie and Bill. Beulah and Robert Delmer Copeland were married May 21, 1929, when she was 21 years old. In the 1930 Census for Midland, Texas, it is recorded that Beulah’s sister Lucille is living with the couple. They eventually made their home in Pecos, Texas, and had four children.
