Wiley Savannah DETHROW was born 5 Feb 1877, Oregon County, MO, and died 18 Nov 1912, Oregon County, MO, the son of Elias [Eli] Samuel DETHROW (1826-1909) and Phebe ELLIOTT (1846-1929). He married Minnie CHILDERS [17 Dec 1878, Lewistown, MO - 11 May 1969, Tucumseh, OK] on 5 Mar 1900, Couch, Oregon Co., MO. To this union were born:

Documentation for the name of Wiley's middle name being Savannah comes from son, grandson, and widow's obituary. Unfortunately, the Death Certificate which is online does not state the middle name, only gives the letter "S".
Middle name "Sylvanna" is found in the Oregon County History Book, page 118. This County History Book was 1st published by the Oregon County Genealogical Society of which I am a member. It was first put out in the late 1960s and a reprint in 1990. While it is a wonderful county book, it is not an older edition with '1st hand' older information. It is noted that not all tombstones, obits, death certificates and direct descendants may agree and sometimes be wrong. However, in this case when so many of these variables agreeing, I will choose to go with the closer direct descendants in their submissions to me.

As the organizer and coordinator for the Dethrow Family Reunion [held every 3 years in Oregon Co], I have had the pleasure and the luxury of not only having a parent born and raised in Oregon Co., MO, but I know many of the cousins and direct descendants of all the children of Elias S. and Phebe Elliott Dethrow, personally. My mother, who, while growing up, knew many of her Dethrow cousins very well, and has countless 1st hand memories of the now gone older generation as well. I am an Ozarkian, and proud of it!]
