Born from the reunion of her loving parents, Merle and Kathryn Ready in French Camp, Calif. She passed peacefully at 12:55 a.m., in the loving arms of her grandson and niece, what a pleasure. Her life was full growing up with her siblings traveling up and down the California coastline while her father dredged the harbors until his retirement. At 16, she married a military man, Aubert Brewer, and traveled to Germany and gave birth to Audrey Lanell Brewer on May 9, 1961; after her divorce, she and Audrey settled in Richmond, Va. There, she worked at the Beemans gum factory and advanced to the Phillip Morris Co. She desired to move herself and Audrey closer to her family, and she settled in Oxnard in 1974, where she had numerous jobs while attending night classes at Camarillo State Hospital and earning her psychiatric technician degree. She was employed until 1998 and transferred with her colleagues and clients to Porterville State Hospital until retiring in 2004. Her family and friends and colleagues were there to help her with her struggle after being diagnosed with cancer in 2004. In July 2008 she decided to be closer to her family in her last months. She is predeceased by her parents; brother Lawrence Ready; and half-sister, Bonnie Ruth Anderson. She is survived by her brother, Wil Ready (Patricia); sister, Merla Burris (John) of the Cuyama Valley, Calif.; her daughter, Audrey Brown (Erik) of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughter, Nicole (Bennie) Leonard, of Seadrift, Texas; grandson, Travis Lone of Atascadero, Calif.; and numerous loving nephews and nieces.
We will have a loving memorial here at the house of her niece, anytime from 10 a.m,. Jan. 3, 2009. In lieu of flowers, bring a dish we can all enjoy and memories. God Blessed Glenda.
