Police Officer Charles M. Daly, of the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department, was shot and killed when he attempted to take action as he was being robbed in front of his home.

He had just got to his home after his shift ended and was in front of his home at 4021 Forest Park Ave.

About 6:00 PM or so in the evening, a suspect approached him and ordered him to put his hands up.

As Officer Daly attempted to draw his weapon the suspect shot him in the abdomen.

Officer Daly was taken to St. John's Hospital where he was pronounced at 6:20PM.

Officer Daly was a member of the Secret Service Bureau and was only 30 years of age.

His wake was held at Harrigan & Sheahan Funeral Home located at 2618 Morgan St.

Internment was at Calvary Cemetery on 12/14/1920.

Officer Daly was the husband of Josephine Daly and the son of Daniel and Maggie (nee Ford) Daly.
