"Aged 79, of 2316 Sixteenth street, widow of John Smithmyer, died at her home at 5 o'clock this morning after an extended illness of a heart ailment. She was born in Chest Springs on June 16, 1861, a daughter of Simon P. and Cecelia McMullen and in 1882 married Mr. Smithmyer, who died in 1927. She had resided in Altoona since her marriage. Surviving are nine sons and daughters, Mrs. J.H. Smith, William F., Charles J., Mrs. J.P. McSorley, Walter J., Morgan A., Joseph E., Mrs. F.C. Weakland, Mrs. J.P. Dawson and James A. Smithmyer, all of this city; twenty-nine grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Martina Burkhart of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. Frank Smithmyer of the city. Mrs. Smithmyer was a member of the Cathedral parish. Friends are being received at home."
