John Russell Cox, 85, Kuttawa, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at 3:15 a.m. at Hilltop Nursing Home, Kuttawa.

An Army veteran and retired farmer, he was a member of Central Baptist Church, Marion. Born April 17, 1923, in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Sammy Joseph Cox and Pearl Cates Cox. Also preceding him in death were one son, Charles Russell Cox, one grandson, Tanner Cox, twin sister, Jean Holloway, and sister, Marcell Shumaker.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Belt Cox; two sons, David Cox and wife, Clara, Calvert City, and Paul Cox, Murray; one daughter, Rebecca Sizemore and husband, Zachary, Berea; one brother, Minos Cox, and one sister, Mary Green, both of Fredonia; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Morgan's Funeral Home, Princeton. Rev. Wallace York will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fredonia Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today (Friday).
