Gertis Viola Hasting Carlton, 79, of Soddy-Daisy, died on Monday, March 17, 2008.

She was born on March 2, 1929. She married Thomas F. Carlton on June 28, 1944.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ethel Hasting; two brothers, Emry and Harrison Hasting; and one sister, Rita Green.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas F. Carlton, of Soddy-Daisy; two daughters, Ima Jean (Bill) Rothfolk, of Dayton, Tn., and Diane (Larry) Robinson, of Woodstock, Ga.; three sons, Bill (Wilma) Carlton, of Dayton, Jerry (Gennie) Carlton of Chicago, and Dean (Sara) Carlton of Soddy-Daisy; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Geneva Long, of Red Bank and Nelly Berrell, of Chattanooga and one brother, LV "Buddy" Hasting, of Dayton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. CDT in the chapel of Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Highway 127 South, Pikeville, TN with Pastor Freddie Marler officiating. Burial will be in Rigsby Cemetery.
