A graduate of the New Mexico Highland University, Barker taught English in Las Vegas, New Mexico's high school from 1930 to 1971. Married to author Omar S. Barker, she was a cover-featured author of ‘Ranch Romance Magazine' when Western pulp magazines were in their heyday. Barker also wrote serials and short novels that received world-wide distribution by King Features Syndicate. In addition Barker wrote a handful of novels: ‘Riders of the Ramhorn,' ‘Cowboys Can't Quit,' ‘War on the Big Hat' and ‘Secret of the Badland,' among others. Six of her novels were published in Holland and England and two were translated and published in French by the Club de Lecture des Jeunes in Paris.
