He was born in Petersburg and formerly lived in Springfield.
Mr. Gaffigan was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Gaffigan.
He was employed by the Wabash railroad in Springfield for 20 years, and for the last 20 years worked in Detroit.
He worked for the Kelsey Wheel Co. at the time of his death.
He leaves a brother, Joseph P. Gaffigan, of Springfield; four nephews and a niece.
The body arrived in Springfield and was taken to the Kirlin & Egan funeral home.
