Services Thursday For Mrs. Simmons
Services for Mrs. Flora Simmons, a resident of Hastings for 81 years who died late Monday at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 O'clock in the First Baptist Church.
The Rev. Harry Cowles will officiate and burial will be in Parkview cemetery under direction of the Butler-Volland Funeral Home .
Mrs. Simmons was born March 19, 1876 in Kewanee, Ill., and came here with her parents that same year to Hastings where she continued to reside. Her home had been at 2019 West Second since her marriage 55 years ago.
The widow of Marion Simmons, she was one of the oldest active members of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of the West Side Birthday Club.
Survivors are her daughter and sons, Mrs. Warren Rice of Rosemont, Warren A. Simmons of Des Moines, Ia., Merle, Lloyd and Merle Simmons of Hastings and Phillip Simmons of Omaha; twenty grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and her sister, Mrs. Minnie Kolb of Buffalo, N.Y.
