American muralist and interior designer. Graduate of École des Beaux-Arts, Paris, student of painter/sculptor Jean-Léon Gérôme, designer and muralist for Tiffany & Co., NYC. Representative works: Hotel Knickerbocker, NYC (interiors); Vernon Court, Newport, RI (murals); NY Public Library (Ceiling murals, Reading Room); Morgan Library (Ceiling murals, librarian's office). Lived with wife and children for many years at 16 West 9th Street, New York, NY. He had once been a boarder in that house, owned by the widowed Frances Quinn, whose daughter, Florence Lee Quinn (1883-1934), would become his wife. She and their 3 children, Eugenie, Natalie, and Frederick, survived him. James Wall Finn was interred in Green-Wood, October 7, 1913, and Florence Lee Quinn Finn on December 15, 1934.
