Erma (Lengefeld) Hibler, Of DeSoto, TX joined her Lord and Savior on December 19, 2008.
Erma was born April 6, 1929 near Gatesville, TX.
Erma was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She received a Bachelors degree from Baylor University and a Masters degree from North Texas State University in Elementary Education.
She loved teaching her fourth grade students and retired from DeSoto I.S.D. and teaching after twenty-five years of service.
On May 29th, 1954 she married Frank Hibler.
They were married for 54 wonderful years.
Erma loved traveling with Frank with their travel trailer.
She marveled at God's handiwork in this great land of ours.
Erma also loved all the churches she attended after becoming a Christian at the age of fourteen and was a dedicated worker for the Lord.
She was an active member of Hampton Road Baptist Church in DeSoto for the last forty-one years of her life.
Erma was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Paul Lengefeld, parents, Albert and Rosa Lengefeld and her sister, Rose Marie Freyer.
Erma is survived by her loving husband, Frank Hibler; son, Alan F. Hibler and his wife Nina (Sam) Hibler, grandson, Duncan Hibler of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Janice (Hibler) Freeman and husband Ralph Freeman, grandson Russell Freeman of West University Place, TX. Erma adored her two grandsons, Russell Freeman and Duncan Hibler.
She is also survived by sisters, Elsie Mallett of Arkansas, Ann Babb of Texas, and Agnes King of Mississippi, and numerous loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 23rd at West/Hurtt Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The Funeral Service is at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 24th at Hampton Road Baptist Church, 400 N. Hampton Road, DeSoto, TX. Dr. Jerry Raines officiating.
Interment will be at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave, 17th Floor, Chicago, IL 60601-7633 or Hampton Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 N. Hampton Road, DeSoto, TX 75115.
