REDMOND, Janice Deckert
Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cherished friend. Born August 5, 1938, died February 9, 2006, while on vacation in Ambergris Caye, Belize, Central America.

She was known for her thoughtfulness, imagination, work ethics, extremely positive attitude and dedication. She was a devout religious woman who believed firmly in the Scripture. Always on the go, Janice will be remembered mostly for her love of life and the happiness she instilled in all the lives she touched.

Born and raised in Merced, CA, she was 2nd runner up for Maid of Merced County, 1955. She was proud of her skills with sports cars as she was the Central Calif. Sports Car Rally and Autocross Champion in 1963. She was also a member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West. She most enjoyed travel with her family whether at home or abroad. Her interests included photography, helping others, music, arts and crafts, sewing, cooking, woodworking, and genealogy. After her retirement from state service, she and her husband founded D&R Enterprises, Photography by Janice and she worked for Catholic Cemeteries of Sacramento.

She was devoted to and was survived by her husband of 31 years, William, and her children and their spouses, Keith Yarbrough (Cathy), Kathi Andreasen (Michael), Mari Szkotak (William), Joseph Yarbrough (Jennifer), Tara Redmond (Drew Logan). She is also survived by Walter R. Deckert Jr., Michael Deckert Jr., Misty Deckert, Michael and Julia Rosenstein along with nine grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Therese Yarbrough, her brother Walter Deckert, and parents, Richard Deckert, and Russelle and Vernon Weaver.

She was an inspiration to all she met and will be missed tremendously.

Friends are welcome for visitation after 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 19 with a Vigil to begin at 6:00 P.M. in Elk Grove Funeral Chapel, 9101 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove. Funeral services will be February 20, at 10 A.M. in St. Josephs Catholic Church, 9961 Elk Grove-Florin Rd, Elk Grove. Flowers are accepted and memorial contributions may be made to the Diocese of Sacramento SUCCEED Program, C/O St. Rose Catholic Church, 5945 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95824.
