The middle name of Wesley was a source of speculation since he usually used his middle initial of "M" instead of his full name. The mystery was solved with the release of the World War I draft registration cards. Viewing the original images, it is clear that his name was entered and personally signed as Wesley McCarter Lynch.
Wesley married Nellie Vera Edwards who was born on April 17, 1906 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. They had one son, Ralph Edward Lynch who was born in June 1918, also in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
Wesley died when Ralph was two years old and was buried at Mount Era Cemetery, Shelby County, Alabama. Nellie lived another 58 years. She died in May 12, 1978. Information shared by their daughter-in-law is that because there was not another burial spot next to Ralph, Nellie was buried at the last spot in her family's plot at Forest Hills Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.
