Mark 'Doodle' Huff, 52, dies unexpectedly at home

Mark Randall "Doodle" Huff, 52, of North Vernon, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at his home. He had been in ill health but death was unexpected.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Pisgah United Methodist Church in Deputy with the Rev. Mike Shuler officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home.

Mr. Huff formerly worked for Townsend Tree Service from 1984 to 1992 as a trimmer. A 1974 graduate of Madison Consolidated High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1974 to 1976. He was a member of Deputy Alumni Association, Lick Branch Baptist Church in Deputy and attended Solid Rock Community Church in Wooten. His hobbies were swimming and camping.

Born July 21, 1956, in Scottsburg, he was the son of Norma Lou Ray Huff of Deputy and the late Jasper Huff, Jr. He married Sue Oak on April 11, 1997 in Decatur County.

Surviving with his wife and mother are two sons, Ryan Huff of North Vernon and Brian Huff of Dupont; two daughters, Sarah Lester of Hanover and Angela Hendren, of Mississippi; two stepdaughters, Monica Smith of Hawaii and Mindy Goldsberry of Seymour; two brothers, Danny Dale Huff and Tim Huff of Deputy; three sisters, Barbara Jean Warren and Brenda Cardinal of Deputy, and Teresa Shuler of Austin; nine grandchildren, Shyela, Shadyn and Seth Smith, Bradley and Markus Hendren, Isiah and LaKaya Huff, and Alivia and Kash Goldsberry.

Memorials may be made to Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home to help the family with final expenses.
