William was the son of Matthew Elliott and Ellen R Ennes. He married Jessie May Brown on 22 December 1895. They were the parents of Merle, Olive, and Mary.

He spent the first 12 years of his life in Ohio, then moved with his parents near Coon Rapids and grew to manhood in this community.

On December 22, 1895 he was united in marriage to Jessie Brown. They lived near the Friends Church southeast of Glidden for several years, then moved near Coon Rapids and live there until March 1913, when they moved to Cambridge, Minnesota.

He leaves to mourn his loss four children Virgil of St Petersburg, Florida, Merle of Chicago, Illinois, Olive and Mary of Cambridge, Minnesota. His wife having departed from this life May 1st, 1928. He also has five grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, besides many other relatives and Friends.

Funeral services were held June 11th, at 2 o’clock in the Pleasant Ridge Friends Church, conducted by the pastor, Giles E. Youngquist. Mrs. Earl Byerly and Guy Kidney furnished the music with Mrs. Bruce McLaughlin at the piano. Burial was in the Coon Rapids Cemetery beside the grave of his wife.
