American Race Car Driver. He began his professional racing career in the Pacific Coast Late Model Circuit in the 1950s, driving special built Galpin Motors Fords. In the Pacific Coast circuit, he had 13 victories to include a 2nd place finish in 1962 and 1st place championship wins in 1963 and 1964. He also made 17 starts finishing in the top ten in the NASCAR Grand National-Sprint Cup Series 1955 to 1973. In 2002, he became the first member inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall Of Fame. His son Ron Hornaday, Jr., is a three-time Camping World Truck Series Champion and two-time NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series Champion.
