Funeral services for Alfred A. Catt , who died Tuesday morning following an illness of two months, were held from the home in Ronald township Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. F.J. Fitch, of the Baptist church officiating.. It was said to be one of the largest funerals ever held in Ronald township.

The services were held under the auspices of the Spanish war veterans, and about 30 members of the Spanish war veterans, camp No. 56, , and the womans auxiliary attended the services in a group and acted as escort. Mr. Catt was the youngest member of the Spanish war veterans in Michigan. He enlisted in Company I of the 34th Michigan Volunteer infantry when he was 16 years of age. He spent two years in Cuba, and then was transferred to Company D of the 30th regiment of the United States volunteer infantry, and served two years with the company in the Philippine Islands.

The American flag covered the casket, and the bearers were eight Spanish war veterans, Sidney A. Rochester, Earl Mason, Hiram Crandell, Hugh Robertson, Otto Zanders, Fred Sherry, Joacob Lucas and Andrew Palmer. The many floral offerings which filled the room were in charge of Mrs. S.A. Rochester, Mrs. Frank Gierman, Erwin Redemsky and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Martin. Fred Sherry had charge of the floral contributions of the Saginaw division of the Pere Marquette railroad employees, and Hugh T. Dobbins and Charles Corcoran were in charge of the flowers from the Ionia division of the Pere Marquette railroad. Angus McDonald, of Grand Ledge, represented the Detroit division of the Pere Marquette, and there was a representation of the brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen present. Interment was at the family lot at Palo Cemetery.

Besides the many friends and relatives from Ronald and vicinity attending the services from away were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice catt and daughter Lucille, of Detroit: Mrs. Martha Catt, of Leslie; Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Weyland, Mr. and Mrs.John Weyland, Mr.and Mrs. Robert Lewis and Mrs. Blanche Bush, of Kalamazoo; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Catt and family, and Mr. and Mrs. A.B. Snyder of Ionia township; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph First, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn First , Mrs. Lafayette Linebaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Webster Linebaugh, and Mr. and Mrs. C.I. Goodwin, of Orange township; Roy Higbee, Fred Klotz and Miss Rusha Miner, of Portland; Mr.and Mrs. Glenn Wing and Mrs. Caine, of Bellevue; Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Lucas, Grand Rapids; A.B. Goodwin of Carson City; Clair Norton, of Smryna; Andrew Palmer, of Lansing, and Agnus MacDonald, of Grand Ledge.
