BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Milton Howard Barnhart, 86, of Berkeley Springs, died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at his home.

Born Aug. 21, 1915, in Needmore, Pa., he was the son of the late Peter Howard and Marietta Breakall Barnhart.

He attended public schools in Fulton County, Pa. He retired in 1970 after 27 years of service as a carpenter with the B&O Railroad.

He was a member of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church in Warfordsburg, Pa. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by one son, Donald M. Barnhart of Falling Waters, W.Va.; four daughters, Shirley A. Barnhart, Mary L. Clawges and Nancy J. Grove, all of Berkeley Springs, and Alice M. French of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ida B. Wills, Alma C. Fisher, Cora M. Smith and Margaret L. Barnhart; and two brothers, Curtis E. Barnhart and Charles A. Barnhart.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroads Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home, which will be open after 9 a.m.
