JOHNIE MURPHREE
VARDAMAN - Johnie Tallent Murphree, 96, died Aug. 20, 2010, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston. She was born Jan. 7, 1914, in Vardaman. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Taylor Church of God of Prophecy.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Taylor Church of God of Prophecy in Vardaman with the Rev. Sherman Adams officiating and the Rev. Ted Patrick assisting. Burial will be in Taylor Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Vardaman is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruthell Reynolds (Billy) of Memphis, Helen Shipman (Tim) of Marshall, Texas and Grace Dugard (Gene) of Vardaman; one son, Raymon Murphree of Vardaman; one son-in-law, Dan Parker of Vardaman; 13 grandchildren, Tommy Murphree, Cathy O'bannon, Steve Parker, Johnie Reynolds, Ricky Reynolds, Joe Reynolds, Angie Weldon, Tony Allen, Terry Allen, Jeff Allen, Don Dugard, Tina Dugard and Jim Dugard; 39 great-grandchildren; and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William "Will" Hosea Tallent and Rissie Idell Warnick Tallent; one daughter, LaBerta Parker; two sisters, Rosie Owens and Ruthie Logan; three grandchildren, Raymon Murphree Jr, Michael Floyd Parker and Billy Mart Reynolds; and two great-grandchildren.
