Born Sept. 6, 1947, in Phoenix, she was the daughter of John and Ann (Lindmeier) Carpenter. She graduated from Maryvale High School in Phoenix. She married Joseph Whisenhunt on Feb. 21, 1974, in McAlester. She worked at McAlester Regional Health Center as the director of finance. She was a member of The Apostolics of McAlester Church. However, she was a lifelong Christian. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and taught children for more than 35 years. She was always involved in church projects, always willing to help wherever needed, and enjoyed singing in the chorale. Survivors include her husband, Joseph Whisenhunt, of the home; son, Daniel Brent Whisenhunt and wife, Joleen, Hollywood, Md.; daughters, Rebecca Ann Richins, Cordova, Tenn., and Cassandra Beth Dowell and husband, William, of McAlester. Also, grandchildren, Daniel Richins, Tatianna Whisenhunt, Mikayla Whisenhunt, Alyssa Whisenhunt, Jenna Whisenhunt, Jeremiah Whisenhunt, Rachelle Elizabeth Dowell and William Hunter Dowell; sister, Joyce Byrd, Las Vegas; foster brother, Phillip Wesson, and other family and friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at The Apostolics of McAlester Church with the Rev. Bobby Price officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
