WOODLAND - Boyce "Doc" Springer, age 88, died Tuesday, April 30, 1996 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo of respiratory arrest. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 2 at Houston Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Danny Bryant and the Rev. McCoy Franklin officiating. Houston Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.

The son of the late Barn Springer and the late Bertha Thompson. He was born September 20, 1907 in Woodland. He was a disable veteran having served in the U. S. Army during World War II where he was a survivor of the Battan Death March in the Philippines. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Olene Neal Springer of Woodland; one son, Neal Springer and his wife Cindy,of Tupelo; two sisters, Ela Howell and Katherine Ford, both of Canyon, TX and one grandson, Preston Springer of Tupelo.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Smith, Larry Smith, Tony Gregory, Doug Dickey, Eddie Lancaster and Alvin Vinson.
