Allen Eugene Personette Sr, of Callahan passed away November 18, 2008 at Shands Jacksonville.

He was born November 14, 1939 in Hart, Michigan to Viola Verdie Keck Personette and John Orval Personette. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. He received several medals, including four Good Conduct Awards, Armed Forces Expedition Medal, National Defense, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

His military units included Great Lakes, Ill., Norfolk, Va., Jacksonville, Key West, Rhode Island, Boston Philadelphia, Pensacola, Long Beach, California; Pearl Harbor and San Diego.

He worked two years as chief engineer at Freemans Hospital in Joplin, MO., 12 years as a chief engineer at the Missouri Correction Center for Men in Moberly, MO. and retired after 14 years as a boiler tender and union steward at NAS Mayport.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Our Redeemer Luthern Church, with Pastor Bill Reister officiating. Burial followed in Verdie Cemetery in Jacksonville.
