Beatrice Woods, 75, of Waycross (Ware Co) died Saturday night at Baptist Village Retirement Communities. She was born in Waycross to the late Oliver Griffin and Irene Lyles Griffin. Mrs. Woods had made Waycross her home for all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mrs. Woods had lived at Baptist Village for the past six years and was very active in arts, crafts, and other daily activities. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Knowles, and two brothers, Lamar Griffin and Charlie Griffin.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn Knowles of Waycross, Janett Carter and her husband David of Hoboken, Betty Jo Knowles of Valdosta, Tracy Knowles of Waycross, Dennis Knowles of Waycross, Bobby Meeks and his wife Gayla of Douglas, two grandchildren, Brent Carter and his wife Joy of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Kimberly Carter of Hoboken, a brother, Earl Griffin of Palatka, Florida, two sisters, Violet Thomas of Palatka, Florida, Olive Griffin of Blackshear, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in High Bluff Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
