WARD, JAMES IRVIN "J.I.," 75, of Louisville, passed away Monday, December 15, 2008. He was born in Clementsville, KY May 4, 1933, son of the late Herman and Ora Ward. He retired from the CSX Railroad and was a retired Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, a member of the VFW Post #5421 and the American Legion Post #220. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph F. Ward. He is survived by his wife, Linda Ward; children, Denise Retterbush (David), Ronnie Ward (Lauren), Joel Ward, Barry Ward and Kimberly Walls (Rick); stepson, Eric Weidner (Missy); grandchildren, Lisa, Patrick, Erin, Kristen, Aaron, Brooks, Nicholas, Zoe, Elloree and Evan; great-granddaughter, Anna Grace; brothers, Eugene and Edward Ward; and sisters, Ruby Harbin, Georgia Pruitt, Virginia Alley and Sister Mary Matthias. His service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Denis Catholic Church, 4205 Cane Run Road, with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the WHAS Crusade for Children.
