Frank D. Garrett, Jr., 77, of Charleston died Friday, October 17, 2003 at a local hospital. Born August 22, 1926 in Jasper County, SC, he was the son of Franklin D and Hattie Sue Garrett (nee Williams). A graduate of St. Stephens High School, he served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He attended the University of SC and retired from the National Cash Register Company in 1987. He was a member of James Island Baptist Church for 50 years during which he served as a Deacon and as a Sunday School Department Superintendent. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara, as well as his daughter and son-in-law Beth and Stan Jaskiewicz of Mt. Pleasant; brother Clair Garrett of Augusta, GA; three grandsons Sgt. Dwight Cargile, US Army and his wife Lisa, Scott Cargile, and Chris Cargile, all of Charleston; and three nieces. His sister, Mildred Ehrhardt, preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00PM Sunday, October 19, 2003 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, 150 Wentworth St. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Monday, October 20, 2003 in the chapel at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, James Island. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Association, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
