Selected by the Buffalo Bills during the 2nd round of the 1982 NFL Draft, he compiled 41 career regular season games primarily serving as a backup to Joe Ferguson and later Mike Pagel. He amassed 1,156 passing yards, with 7 touchdowns. At the time of his death, he was head football coach at San Diego Mesa College.
